Held on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of American independence, the conference explored the ways in which the concept of freedom has shaped the United States—past and present, real and imagined. 350 delegates from over 30 countries examined competing visions, promises, and limitations of freedom in American history, politics, literature, and culture, as well as their transnational and global dimensions.
We’re extremely grateful to Prof. Elena Lamberti – pictured here with the EAAS Officers – and the entire organizing team for having us in Bologna! Thank you to all members of the EAAS community who traveled to Bologna to share reflections on visions of freedom. See you in Paris for EAAS 2028!
