Abstract proposals are welcomed for (De)Constructing Identities: Inclusive practices of naming. The Graduate Conference is organized by the Ph.D. Programme in Foreign Languages and Literatures of the University of Verona and will take place on 2-3 December 2026 in Verona, Italy.
The Ph.D. course in Foreign Languages and Literatures is organizing a Graduate Conferences titled “(De)Constructing Identities: Inclusive Practices of Naming”. The conference encourages critical reflections upon the linguistic and literary processes through which identities are shaped, negotiated, but also twisted and contested. These topics will be explored with regard to both twentieth-century theories including poststructuralism, feminist studies, and the postcolonial approach, which have challenged essentialist views of identity, and contemporary critical debates which have increasingly highlighted politics of naming, language, and representation.
We accept proposals in either English or Italian from Ph.D. Students, candidates, and early career researchers.
Keynote speakers: Julie Abbou, University of Turin, and Donatella Bremer, University of Pisa.
Deadline for submission: June 1, 2026.
Deadline of acceptance: June 20, 2026.
